ABOUT Edward J. Martin

Founding Attorney

Ed prides himself on helping clients achieve their trust and estate planning, business, and real estate objectives while delivering the highest level of personalized service and care. He has built a strong reputation for offering comprehensive and tailored legal services in an efficient and timely manner.  His clients include blue-collar workers, affluent individuals and businesses of all shapes and sizes.

In his estate planning practice, Ed ensures that the wealth his clients have worked their entire lives to accumulate will be passed down to the next generation in the most streamlined, tax-efficient, and protected manner possible.  His thorough, yet flexible, estate plans consist of trusts, last wills and testaments, powers of attorney, health care proxies and living wills, all of which emphasize asset-protection, probate avoidance, and income and estate tax reduction opportunities.

Ed’s common sense approach to solving problems and closing deals hits the mark with business owners, in particular.  Ed has significant experience working on corporate transactions, providing seasoned representation in complex, multi-million dollar mergers and acquisitions, offering practical advice in small transactions, and forming limited liability companies and other entities for family businesses. Ed’s broad experience in business law matters allows him to offer thorough and targeted representation, regardless of the size of the engagement.

Real estate law plays a substantial role in most of Ed’s engagements.  He works tirelessly to ensure that he is accessible to his clients throughout every real estate transaction.  Whether buying, selling, leasing, renting or planning to protect or pass down real estate, Ed understands the intricacies of real property law.  He is there for his clients throughout every transaction, every time, and has what it takes to successfully facilitate a smooth closing process.

On a more personal note, Ed enjoys golfing, playing basketball, kayaking, hiking, and experiencing all that the outdoors has to offer.  Somehow, he is still a fan of the New York Jets, Mets, and Knicks, which has equated to more sports disappointments than most fans should ever have to endure.  As part of his penance for his choice of sports teams, Ed is incredibly generous in devoting time and effort in giving back to the community.  Ed has not only joined several charitable organizations, but has gone on to serve as a valued board member and an active participant in each charity’s events. He can be found at many charitable fundraisers benefitting worthy causes in the Capital Region. Ed is proud to be a part of the Saratoga Springs community with his wife and their two daughters.
